The Cows of YorkshireCan they really appreciate the way I deviate From the constrictions of proper poetry? I doubt they will, the way they look ill From all the things that they’ve read But to be honest I find them quite literally Sick in the head.
Do they really know the conventions Of how this prosody works? Or do they only have the intentions Without the intellectual perks?

Dinnertime with the Von HookesDINNERTIME WITH THE VON HOOKES An Epic of Two Families

As the dinner bells begin their ringing toll And the wheels of the service carts begin to roll The Von Hookes come down from their grand staircases And sit neatly one by one on their designated places The Lord and the Lady sat down on the ends of the table Seated as complacently as they were able With Von, Vann, and Dianne seated along the rim Frowning in a room that was frighteningly dim The house was a solace, not a smile in plain sight Adding to the winter chill that surrounded them that night

Life As Usual

Tired again? Yes. I'm very tired. Dianne here, however, thinks it's a good idea to keep flinging herself at me from the other side of the room. Thank god my flat's not even big enough for a dog. She can't catch enough momentum to shove me over the bed.

My writing career isn't going as good as I'm hoping it to be -- as per usual. Dianne's continuing her studies like everyone my age should. And when she's gone, I go to the coffee shop and type away. I have that nagging feeling everything I write is crap. But whatever. I just need to keep working.

I'm not someone whom you'd call cynical, but I don't think I'll be able to lift myself from this state of induced poverty anytime soon. Not from the way I'm handling my life, that is. Haha.

But onwards, John. Onwards.
